The Fantastic Life

Believe It to Do It

Mindset is everything—and it starts with the conversations you have with yourself.  I came across this quote from Pat Summitt (Legendary coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols) the other day: “Whatever you desire in life, have the courage and commitment to do it to your absolute best. And always know, you have to believe it to do it.”

That last line? That’s the key. Belief comes first. Before results. Before momentum. Before anything shows up on the scoreboard. Belief can just be a kernel: I think I can, I think I can (props to the Little Engine That Could).

Here are a few ways to make belief work for you:

— Proof Fuels Confidence: Start keeping track of your wins, no matter how small. It’s hard to believe in yourself if you don’t reflect on what you’ve already accomplished.  This is why I track EVERYTHING!   I know tracking is a constant theme.  Try it…I am a believer.

— Mental Check-Ins Matter: Ask yourself how you’re doing—daily. You can’t adjust what you don’t acknowledge.  When I fill out my tracking sheet, I am constantly checking in with the major areas of my life.

— Gratitude Shifts Your Lens: Instead of focusing on what’s not working, take a minute to call out what is.  A life of gratitude is a Fantastic Life.

Belief is about choosing to lead with strength—even on the days that don’t feel strong.  Believe you can solve the problem. Believe you can win the pitch. Believe you belong at the table. Then act like it.

The Fantastic Life Rule #1:
Know Your Stories

The stories we tell ourselves set the stage for our entire life. It’s not just about the story you share with the world. The story that’s infinitely more important is the story you tell yourself, about yourself. Make it a good one.

Success starts with your self-talk and belief. It doesn’t whisper to you, it shouts.
