I still believe meditation is great for me. So over the past few years, I tried two guided meditation apps (Calm and Headspace) so I could build my practice wherever I went. Below is a quick way to try out meditation for yourself. One is three minutes, the other fifteen. Both provide something a bit different.
And yes, I actually sat still for both of them. I keep trying to develop this habit and the habit remains elusive.
Here’s what stood out to me from each of the videos below:
(Deepak Chopra – 3 min | Michael J. Shea – 15 min)
— Short meditation can still shift you: Three minutes of quiet can be like a reset button for your mind and body. If you are stressed or need a break, sit still for three minutes. Or even add this practice to your morning cup of coffee to get your day started on a good note.
— Longer meditation lets you go deeper: Fifteen minutes brings a different kind of stillness. This might give you an insight into a problem you have or a new perspective on life that is more positive.
— Your thoughts aren’t the problem: They’re part of the process — not something to fight.
Stillness is a skill. After working nonstop for 41 years, I am trying to build stillness into my days and make it a habit.. This is one way we can create the space to live a Fantastic Life.

The Fantastic Life Rule #10:
Take the Decision Out of the Moment Meditation only works when it becomes a habit — not a negotiation. If you decide ahead of time that you’re going to sit, even for three minutes, you remove all the friction. No debate. No delay. Just sit, breathe, and let the practice do its work. |
